Glass and Wood or Maybe Both?

Here at Southern Loft, we have a wide variety of dining room tables to choose from. Our selection includes both finished wood and glass tops and our customer base is more or less an even split when it comes to preference. Personally, I grew up at an oak dinner table that has lasted my family a (no pun intended here) solid 20 years. I had already been sold on it's the quality, durability and simplistic beauty. The thought of a glass table never even crossed my mind until I came face to face with the gorgeous collection on the SL showroom floor. So the question became does one trump the other?

However, there are a few reasons besides propensity why one might choose one over the other. A glass table, when placed in a small space, will create an illusion of larger capacity. A glass top is many times also cheaper than its competition. However, it is still possible to find a wood finish at a price point that works for any budget. Wood is additionally lower maintenance than glass. Fingerprints and smudges are less evident as well as other minute imperfections.

Copeland, a beautiful line of solid wood furnishings, gives one of my personal favorite dining pieces a innate twist. The legs of this piece are composed of solid walnut. An addition of a glass table top allows the uniquely warped limbs to be the center of attention. Our Copeland dining table is really the best of both worlds for someone who is looking for a space saving table without skimping on style.

Southern Loft also carries a vast collection of other dining pieces in both wood and glass, including trendy chairs to match any setting. Each selection can be designed to meet your specific needs or purchased right off the floor. It is our promise that if you share your story with us, we will work to compose a space to fit.
