Attention all students!

Back to school, back to school, but there’s no need to lose your cool! Just in time for the fall, Southern Loft has adapted brand new looks that aim to please a crowd of returning university students eager to create the most sought after space. As an undergraduate myself, I know I am going to spend a mass amount of time either in the classroom or in my home away from home. And that’s exactly what it needs to be, a home away from home. Your home not only reflects your style and personality, it impacts how you live. The place where you are going to spend most of your time should therefore be invested in.

If you’re like me, your mood can be greatly impacted by the mood set in the space you’re in. I’m not the biggest fan of my campus library for this reason. The walls are all white, not a pop of color to be found. That goes for the rest of the furniture as well. As the world’s worst procrastinator, self titled of course, if I’m not completely comfortable in the space I’m going to study in, the studying will not happen. This was a realization I made soon after arriving at college. The task at hand was to either find or create an area where I could channel my most studious self. After devoting a bit of time and money to the cause, I turned my college apartment into a valedictorian’s oasis. Okay, that is possibly a slight exaggeration, but I was suddenly making grades that reflected the status of my space, an A plus!

Not only can your home affect your study habits, it can also have an impact on your overall mood. I’ll be the first to say, I missed my hometown after I graduated grade school. School is hard, living on your own is hard, and sometimes you just desperately want to go home, hug your mom and have her wash the laundry that’s been piling up since August. Needless to say I was in a slump for the entire first semester living in a dreary dorm-room. One of the solutions I found, was to decorate with pieces that were going to boost my disposition. After all, I was going to be sticking it out for the long hall. Decor dipped in my favorite tones, a bed laced in soft, delicate throws, and lighting that promoted tranquility and relaxation. Many times the best thing you can do for your emotional health is to relocate to a place that advocates for it.

The season of life after high school and before actual adulthood is a unique time. You’re in a constant internal battle between growing up and being the kid that you definitely still are. You learn a substantial amount about political science and calculus, philosophy and history, but most of all you learn about yourself; when you’re searching for essentials to complete your room, keep in mind this in mind. We here at Southern Loft understand all of the reasons why your college living space is so significant. The selection of pieces we have encourage this logic. Additionally, they are versatile without breaking the bank.

Not much says apartment living quite like a transitional lounger. This piece is likely to be the most functional piece of furniture you will ever own which makes it ideal for a small space. This sofa-bed converts from a seating option that comfortably seats 3 to 4, to a bed for yourself or guests when needed. The two back rests are heavy weight and have a slide-proof base. Create unique configurations that work for your space with this stylish and dexterous design.

Bedding is another area of concern. When it comes to the comforter on my bed, neither comfort nor style trump one or the other. That is what makes our selection so great. There’s no need to compromise your taste for a good night’s sleep. These handcrafted quilts come in 12 in-trend colors and offer numerous options where patterns are concerned. Heavy enough to keep you warm when the heater is out but not too massive that it can’t be grabbed on your way out the door when the fire alarm goes off; the ultimate college survival blanket.

We hope you’ll stop in and check out our back-to-school pieces. Ensure that you have a fantastic and successful college experience!
